1. St. Michael’s Mount, Cornwall
Instead of Mont-Saint-Michel, France
France’s Benedictine abbey and the castle of Cornwall draw many similarities as both are rocky islands with medieval buildings cut off by the tide several times a day. Just like its French twin, you can walk to St. Michael’s Mount crossing the causeway at low tide or visit by small ferry boat when the tide is in. However, in contrast, St. Michael’s Mount feels more intimate and peaceful – as its founding monks almost certainly intended. Our favourite way to experience Cornwall is by cabriolet, hire the exhilarating Jaguar F-Type today!
2. Lavender Fields, South-west England
Instead of Provence, France
You don’t need to visit the south of France to smell the gorgeous scent of lavender in the air, the British countryside is full of beautiful lavender fields to roam and experience. Some of our favourites are near the Cotswolds and Somerset as they are easy to get to and an ideal day trip from London.
3. Chinatown, Manchester
Instead of Shanghai
One of our top places to visit in our Manchester travel guide, Manchester’s Chinatown on Faulkner Street is the second largest in Britain and third in Europe. Full of colour and flavour, with amazing market stalls, great shopping and tasty restaurants, this vibrant Chinatown is fun to explore and even more fun to taste.
4. Brighton Royal Pavilion, Brighton
Instead of Taj Mahal, India
Considered one of the wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal is a spectacular structure. However, for those who can’t make it to India, a short drive from London gives you Brighton’s Royal Pavilion. With its onion-shaped domes, dizzying minarets and detailed colonnades, it’s like having the Taj Mahal in your back garden. Hire a sportscar from our West London location and head to Brighton in style.
4. Shetland, Scotland
Instead of Finland
If seeing the Northern Lights is on your bucket list, the good news is you don’t need to travel all the way to the Arctic Circle to see them. Instead, head to Shetland and with a bit of luck you will see the amazing show. Hire a 4x4/SUV like the stunning Range Rover Velar, pack up the family and hop on one of the daily overnight crossings from Aberdeen, a great way to travel.
5. Little Venice, London
Instead of Amsterdam
This part of London may be named after the famous Italian city, but it’s a dead ringer for the canal rich city of Amsterdam. One of the best ways to spend an afternoon, Little Venice is a series of tree-lined canals that many tourists miss during their London trip. Spanning from Hyde Park to Warwick Avenue, colourful canal boats roam the waterways, and many serve as tearooms and cafes for lunch with a view.
