50 years of AMG - 50 years of driving performance

This year Mercedes are celebrating its 50th anniversary with its infamous AMG automotive performance. The company, originally founded by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, have since seen record successes in the motorsport world. Mercedes have since been fulfilling sporting and driving dreams of performance enthusiasts for 50 years.

The development of unique driving pleasures has been put through its paces and as a result now proud to position itself as a highly successful sports car and today it is truer than ever before!

Since setting up their workshop in 1967 the Aufrecht, and Melcher Großaspach (AMG) claimed its first of many victories in the 24hr race at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and so the victories continued:

• The dream collaboration with Mercedes-Benz began in 1990
• 1993 saw the launch of the C 36 AMF
• In 2005 – Mercedes-AMG introduced the first vehicle to be developed entirely by Mercedes-AMG, welcome the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
• 2011 was the year that AMG became a serious partner in the work of motor-racing with the SLS AMG GT3.
• Soon followed in 2014 the launch of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and the launch of the 43 series models in 2015.
